Con on the Cob 2006: Andy Hopp

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

From the Lost Interviews of Con on the Cob 2006:

After four days of making announcements, running games, emceeing contests, awarding prizes and making sure everyone had a good time, game designer (Low Life) and convention organizer Andy Hopp sat down for an interview. It may have been the first time all weekend that he wasn’t on the move. Andy didn’t have much of a voice left, but we talked about how much Con on the Cob has grown in just one year.

Long Term Campaigns

This episode is the recording of a panel given at Royalcon 2006.

 Panelists are:

Sean Punch (Line Editor - Steve Jackson Games)

Royalcon being held in  Montreal, the panel was given in both french and english.  Sean’s part was in english

and Stephane’s was in french.  Luc was able (with Stephane’s kind permission) to translate into english for our audience.

Please be forgiving of the quality of the translation, it is here for your information and entertainment.

Lots and lots of good if not GREAT advice.

ENJOY!

Midnight’s Lair Interview with RoyalCon Organizers

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

My partner Luc and I recently (Last week) recorded an interview with the organizers of RoyalCon a brand new gaming convention in Montreal Canada. Our goals in interviewing them were twofold.

1: To help them promote this embryonic local convention, in order to have it flourish and thrive.

And

2: To help out those who live in smaller markets that might also have been considering starting up there own gaming conventions. To give them some insight into the processes and mindset involve in undertaking such a gargantuan task, and perhaps act as a source of inspiration for those just starting down the same path. We thought that the perspective of these 3 people just prior to the Launch of the Con (Sept 23-24) would be refreshing and enthusiastic, and hopefully revealing.

We also plan on doing Interviews on site during the Convention, as well as a follow up interview with the organizers some time after the con. After the “shiney” has worn off a bit and they can reflect on it with a little bit more of a sober perspective.
